Crankshaft bearing cap

Hi, I'm replacing my crankshaft oil seal, sump gasket and resealing the crankshaft bearing cap. Do I apply sealer to the bottom of the cap around the bolt holes or just on the sides as it doesn't look like it has had any on the bottom before.
