Was coming out of Fosse park in Leicester, for those who know it. Waiting a junction to pull out and a guy in a fiesta ran into the back of me.

Not to much damage, but need a new rear bumper and the boot floor has creased a bit. Am told by the garage that the insurance sent me to that it will be repairable. They think it will just pull out???

lol at the guy who hit me tho... he was like look its all fine, theres no damage... i was like how can you tell by looking at it... he said "the bumpers not damaged so its all fine"... i opened the boot and found the damage and he was like prove it wasn't like that already (it wasn't)?? I told him to let the insurance decide... then he proceeded to tell me it was just a thin bit of plastic anyway, which made me laugh... so i told him he didn't have a clue what he was talking about and that being an engineering student i did! (well i should do haha!) That shut him up!!!

Even tho it wasn't my fault i am still pretty gutted bout it all, im guessing this will go on the cars record so if i come to sell it it will be worth less?

If it's bad it could write the car off fella as it's not something that is that easy to fix, but only from what I have read on here.

Guy sounds like a t**t, good on you for putting him in his place in a calm and normal fashion.

Its a 172 cup, think its 2002...the garage said it will be fixed not written off. It doesn't look to bad at all really but if its being repaired i want it all doing... just cos i aint gotta pay for it as it was his fault, plus i would never buy a car with that sort of damage.

Thats much worse and if that was repaired then mine will be fine which is good to know...really didn't want a right off as just had new tyres and pads all round plus brembo hc's up front.

As for slapping him, think the other people who were around may have noticed and reported me, but it did cross my mind.

Just off topic, how do i post pictures instead of links when posting in threads, sorry for such a stupid question?

copy the link of the photo you are copying, press the little yellow square that looks like a sun with some mountains, paste the link in there. job done.

It was one of the junctions as you come out of sainsburys, i was heading back into leicester so was going out of the one with pizza hut on your right.

The insurance company has sent me to a specific body shop... i had a look round and they seem pretty good and said that if i aint 100% happy they will sort it out.

that can be a s*** junction, people come up to it way too quick.

just so you know you are allowed to send your car to any bodyshop you want, they cant make you send it to their "approved" repairers. The one thing to ask is do they bake the paint one after spraying or do they leave it to air dry. Air dried paints never set as hard as baked paints.

I didn't know that, will they spray the bumper themselves or order it in already sprayed?

they will respray the bumper themselves to make sure they get the match right.

air dried paints are really bad when the front end has been redone, it doesn't last 5 minutes against stones. Plus baked on paints always look better, they sparkle more and are less prone to orange peeling

spray it. they buy bumpers primed

Thinking about it that makes a lot more sense, make sure the colour match is as good as possible, plus less likely of damaging the paint when being transported.

"richandgem" were you on welford road heading away from town around lunch time yesterday, saw a LY 197?

Yeah you should be careful using that exit, people run into u!!!!!!

Was worth checking I have seen the same LY 197 everywhere over the last couple of days and thought it might be yours, but guess not.

it might be our first R27, the plate started with FD07 and it only has the front bumper decal

It had decals but i can't remember if it was just front bumper FD07 rings a bell but can't remember, hence why i didn't do a spotted thread...I always forget the plates by the time come to do a spotted.
Had been talking bout doing a mini meet in leicester to get to know people, but then the crash happened, so i won't be organising it for a while.

I had a similar bump in my 2004 '53 plate Cup in Easter 2008, lady ran into the back of me at set of lights. My bumper looked 'ok' at the time, but my boot wouldn't latch without a good slam and the tyrewell in the boot looked much worse than yours. Quite crumpled.

My insurance got on it, was even contacted by the other ladies insurance to confirm everything, if I needed anything sorting and to let me know she had accepted full blame. Car came back from the bodyshop with a new rear bumper, and all the metalwork behind had been straightened with a new coat of paint etc. Looked as good as new - I had a good look around it when it came back!

Good luck with yours, I know how frustrating it is!!

That won't be written off unless there's a lot more than I can see in the pic. Wouldn't worry about it mate.

Hope its all sorted for you mate. You should have made the doctor say you have whiplash and give you some medicalion whether you have it on now. That was you can claim much easier because a medical professional has said you have recieved whiplash. I did and got £1600. Win. I expect abuse and the usual "putting our insurance up" etc, but bothered?

Well the doc has said i have mild whiplash and the insurance company said they are looking into making a claim, i don't think it will come to anything.

  Clio 1.2
just ring the docters back tell them the pain is gettin worse, all go's down on record if your making a claim ;)
i got £2000 few years back in a mates car when some wifey pulled out on us in the wet at a crossroads
we were only going 20-25 mph
a dont think docters can say or not if u have whiplash because there is no visual signs or swollen muscles i think :S
