Creaky steering

The steering on my new 172 has started to creak when its turned, particularly when its been parked in the sun for a while (although it doesnt have had to have got all that hot)

Sounds like it is coming from just under the top of the steering column in front of the dash.

Anyone else had this happen? Really annoying me now, its quite loud.

Looks like another trip back to the dealer to fix it....

Yep! Ive heard it occasionally on the 2002 172 but can be very load at times on the 2003 1.6. Reno couldnt shed any light on the problem. That and the creaky sunroof on the 1.6 ..... feels like your tacking an old wooden pirate ship into the wind!

Just use loads of WD40; spray it between the steering wheel an the column. Had the creaking too, now it seems gone.
