right i have to make a decision on what i am doing car wise

many will know i have had the phase 1 172 up for sale for a few weeks, the car is mint but for some reason i have had no interest whatsoever, i have been looking at other cars and the only thing i think i want that = what i want in a car is a starlet, other things have come and gone but thats the only thing i can find.

so its now.......

sell the clio and get a starlet

or

keep the clio, maybe bucket and strip it, mod it a bit more

i really fancy peoples opinions please

Get the glanza.

Where have you advertised the clio?

imo drop a couple hundred off your asking pice and advertise it in the trader

Just bear in mind as your asking on a clio site everyone will say keep the clio so your going to get biased opinions

Get the Glanza, stick the 172 on Ebay/Trader maybe take a couple hundred hit.

As you said to me on Saturday mate you dont really like the 172 much anymore.

thats what i thought about biased opinions, the clio is on here, williamsclio, clio16valver, pistonheads.

i don't think the price if dropped really is worth it, i think the price is good for what your getting.

why you specifically recon the glanza over a clio mate?

  Clio 172 mk2
Get the Toyota, see how it goes..punt it on if it turns out to be crap as there are plenty of good 172s around so you can return to the 'fold' at a later date.

imo advertising on clio sites is not the best place to sell your car mate as on a car forum the market is saturated with similar cars.

Advertise in the trader or on other car club forums that aren't saturated with clio's

if dropping the asking price £200 gets a sale then i think you should. Whats £200 in the grand scheme of things??

  Revels Mum & Sister
When selling the S3 I slapped it on Pistonheads for a week not a sniff, then slapped it on Trader bam sold withing 2 days

Bite the bullet and pay the £35 to advertise it on autotrader!

Not enough people will see here, williamsclio and pistonheads. They are all specialist sites that the average noooob wont know about. First place Joe Bloggs will look is the trader.

edit: buy a ph2! you know it makes sense!

AT online only for two weeks is about a score dude:)
I'd just go with advertising online tbh, as by the time the mag comes out most of the cars on there have sold.

Agree with that and when i have sold mine thats been the case.

On the car front, I really dont like starlets.

get the glanza, be more open minded about the price you want for the clio otherwise you won't end up getting rid of a car you don't like

Indeed its only £20 for two weeks.

Its only £7.99 for 2 weeks if your motor is under £1000. There is a shedload of money to be made in that market imo.

You dont like the 172 so i think its a clear choice.

Problem is you may have to let it go for less than you wanted to if you dont have any luck

I would hate to agree with Justine infact it hurts me too. But you have stated a loads times your dislike for it, and I doubt that will change.

You may as well get shot, that said I would not buy a Glanza with the muhoney !

  BMW E46 330i Touring
I also think it's gotta go dude, no point throwing money at it if you don't like it in the first place.

Stick it on the 'trader - I didn't have a sniff on any of the sites I posted it on but sold it on the 'trader in a week. There's no rush, so try 2 weeks at the price you want and then maybe reconsider if you still have no interest...

Also worth looking around to see what other 172's are in, say, 100 mile radius - there was only one 172 cheaper than mine in 100 miles, and that was kev'd up.

Get it on trader if you want to sell it, and price it competitively.

If your serious about selling it, get a decent ad up together, price it at £3999 ono and it will be gone by the weekend.

I do this for a living neil, If your serious about getting rid, you need to adjust the price.

If you don't mind hanging on for a while, the leave it priced as it is and it will sell eventually. BUT that could take an extra 6 weeks! I'm fucked if i'd drive round in a car I didn't like for 6 weeks for the sake of £200!

Just tellling you like it is mucker.

NAH I APPRECIATE THAT MATE, (dam caps lock), i may look into the price, maybe something in between, will look into posting the advert tonight i think on the trader, and maybe trade-it too.

the only option is the starlet after the 172 so thats whats happening, just to find a mint one of those then

well after a look through autotrader there seems to be not a massive amount around, some really steep prices and some really cheap ones, i think the price i currently have up for it fits in well with what prices are currently up there.

apart from the same car basically in bristol up for 3.5k, tried ringing to see if he has had any luck but not available at mo.

If your serious about selling it mate, put it up for £3995 and see how you go. You can ammend the ad at a later date, so you'll be able to reduce it.

If there isnt many good ones about in your area, you can use that to your advantage.

Make sure you use upto date, good photos.

already got all the above chap in my other for sale threads. should be going up tonight i think.

as you say, i can always change the price at a later date but i am not sure about 3995, that opens me up to being dropped quite a bit, however if i put it up at its urrent price i would probably drop to 4k

I know mate. Its a good ad. I mean on the trader. If its a good as your cs ad you'll get people coming from all over to see it.

Just be open with people that you're not taking offers when they ring.

Sweet jesus. I can't believe people are suggesting that you buy Glanza V as a replacement for an RS Clio.

I hope you don't. If you do, I have my fingers crossed for when you test its cornering abilities.

Buying a Glanza will have one overall effect, it'll put you back in the seat of a Clio. Very quickly. I can't understand how all you over there wet yourselves for them. They are 10 a penny in Ireland and they don't handle.

more info cahp? experienced?

i have raised this worry before, when i spoke to people about there handling i was told that it was very poor as standard but when you get the strut braces and coilovers on them they are much much better.

any knowledge you have on this would be great cheers

Ones with tricked out suspension handle better than the non-trick aftermarket suspension examples. But by all accounts dude, you'll be left feeling very short changed changing from something that handles as well as a Clio to a Glanza V.

Straight line prowess is fine, they're small and do have good tuning potential. I have driven plenty, been passenger in plenty and known more than the fair share of people that have written them off. They're a complete liability!

They have a live rear axle, identical to the kind found in mkII Escorts. In rally Escorts on 13" wheels made for going sideways this is fantastic. This is not on the other hand suitable in a small FWD hatch with a turbo strapped to the front. What will we put between the two rear wheels, hmmm, scaffold pole. I would imagine anything from a Saxo VTR upwards would demolish a Glanza in any sort of twisties.

If you're sick of the Clio, as I was on a number of occasions, take it on a track day! You'll soon find the love again!

  53 Clio's & counting
here is my 10 pence mate

i think you need to decide if your happy with dropping the price on the clio,if you are then weigh up what car you want to replace the clio that will be as good in all fields, for example what can you buy for the same money that will be reliable, handle,be as fun,and cost as less as the clio? i have been through this in my mind about my clio and even if i could get 3k for mine,i cant think of a fun car thats fairly new, gets to 60 in under 7 secs, does 140 and 30 mpg for the same money.
for example iv travelled 1100 miles in one week in the clio and felt like i had only driven 100,which i was very impressed with

if you want a glanza get a drive in one before you sell the clio, you never know you might want to keep it......

  53 Clio's & counting
good noise russ.....still yet to drive the glanza

then most def drive one before making any desisions matey,im not saying sell or keep,as only you can decide that,if it was me personally i would keep it as i believe soon good ph-1s are going to become rare

i have thought about it quite alot but just find it boring, don't think its really that fun to drive. i agree i have thought seriously about what could replace it and i think the glanza is the only thing that really comes close (that isn't french again), i need to sort a test drive really.
