Crunching into 2nd Gear

Only happens when changing fast up/down.

If i match revs or change gear slowly doesnt happen.

Easy fix for a gearbox place?

Roughly how much to repair?

Don't change fast up or down. Sorted, and it's free.

put 80w90 in my mk1 to stop it. Worked for about a month then came back. I just drove around it in the end and it got no worse over 2 years or fairly hard use (I was waiting for it to go bang and replace it, but it never went

Doesn't bother me in the slightest tbh.

Just been to a gearbox specialist and it'd cost £480 just for the 2nd synchro to be replaced :S

Was that 480 if you take him the box, or 480 including him removing it?

If it was all in, thats not a bad price TBH as its quite a pain to get in and out.

Thats all in. £200 less if I take the box, but then that means me removing it/potentially breaking it.

Im just gonna leave it.

Ive just paid out over £600 in repairs to the left corner after someone cut me up.

I had the same on mine, I fitted polybushes to the dog bone mount & it sorted it.

I had 3rd gear get moody with me.

changed the oil, it felt better for about 6 shifts. Probably placebo effect.

Renault box. 1 ham-fist shift and it's dead
