Crunchy gear change

Got a 93 Clio RT 1,4 has 69.5k on the clock and driver well except one thing.

The gear change from 1st into 2nd sometimes crunches, almost like I haven't put the clutch down in time.

Doesn't happen from 2nd to 3rd and almost seems a bit worse after its warmed up or on a fast change.

Any ideas if its the clutch? clutch cable? gearbox???

Check the gearbox has enough oil.

Idealy change the oil.
