hey
i just checked my oil level and noticed needs topping up so i thought i would take the filler cap off just to have a look.... only to find there is some yellow stuff in there...

the car is running fine tho.. my only thought is that my thermostat housing blew i little time ago and some water could have got in then?

does anyone have anyother thought?

Tag it for a rag for about 20 minutes down the motorway - that will get the oil hot enough to burn off the excess moisture. if its still there then you may have a problem

Are you loosing coolant if not i wouldnt worry, if the cars allowed to warm up first before its opened up its very rare to see headgaskets go nowadaya really...

I had the same in my old 1.2, it struggles to get upto a decent temp this time of year. A 280 mile round trip to salisbury and back fixed it.

5 mins round the lanes normally cures that:rasp:
its just condensation, but lack of oil changes dosn't help it either.

You'll do well to get rid of it. Plastic cam cover and they let moisure in, no biggy yet to see one that doesn't do it.

Mine didn't do it, but then again it did spend alot of time on the motorway and I changed the oil as soon as I got it, however plenty of 1.2's do it, nothing to worry about just wipe it out when you come to sell it or take it for a thrashing.
