I almost forgot one of silly issues in this game and have just come across it again. :) The issue being with the helicopter gunships. Quite realistically, the missile launcher is the one to take these out, but you're fecked if you haven't got one. Any withering fire you hurl in the gunships' direction is immedately countered by ridiculously accurate and damaging turret fire. That doesn't stop. It also has the silly attribute of hitting you, whilst swimming underwater, at night and approx half a mile away with a decent tree-line between you.

Jump into a boat with a machine-gun turret and you can lay down some decent fire on it. However, I got hit with a burst and the boat's damage went immediately to 88%. Maybe the play-testers for this ALWAYS had a missile launcher in reserve? ;)

Was just about to post the same Darren, the gunships are f**king ridiculous

Up to the bit where you have to secure a landing zone right next to some giant blue metal thing in a mountain, and the gunship has taken about 600 rounds of minigun bullets, and won't die

Frustrating isn't the word :/ how comes everything else is reasonably easy to kill!

I'm gonna go with armoured gunships being a bit tougher than the average KPA soldier ;)

TBF it does have a few inconstancies in that regard but f**k it. It's allowed the odd flaw since it's so awesome. Better than glowing yellow RPGs in the CoD scripted Michael Bay yawnfest.

I have to agree, tbf. However, the helos must have a larger drum of ammo than Will Smith's SMG at the end of i-Robot....

Got past where I got stuck, took the gunship out with some rockets :p

The one thing I really like about Crysis that you don't see much, is how easy it is to get guns! Finally a game that treats a warzone like a warzone!

Will my spec run it ok?

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition (3.4ghz)
4 GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD5750 (1GB)

Define ok? One man's ok is another man's slide show. If you mean will it run on maximum at 60fps, then no. You'll certainly be able to get it running to an ok standard, but how much you're willing to compromise is a personal thing. It's arguably still the most technically demanding game ever written.

Running at an "OK" standard is good enough for me. As long as I can play the game comfortably then I'll be fine

That's the beauty of the original Crysis - and hopefully its sucessor too. The fact that the whole graphics interface is so flexible to the end user. Take Crysis at the minute. I have all things set to the highest they can be, but originally set AA to be 8x. However, if I drop the AA figure down to 4x and maintain everything else to the highest level - I gain an extra 20fps. Tbh, there's not a million miles of difference between 8x and 4x in a game and I'd much prefer the speed increase. Some people wouldn't - and that goes exactly inline with what Munson's saying. What is great for one person, isn't necessarily great for the other. I've always wanted speed and smoothness over quality any day of the week. If I can get all the bells and whistles on without compromising smotthness, then great. If not, those 'shiny' settings get turned down a notch!

Oh, you might start seeing a slight hike in your electricity bill too, running Crysis. Mine was munching upto 480watts when sat on the Menu screen. ;)

Let us know what the SP campaign is like, m8. I don't really give a rat's arse about the MP side of it tbh.

will do, have you not pre-ordered it? I got it through Asda for only £21

I won't be surprised if Steam prevents me loading the game up due to it's ghey date validation though, I'm at home Friday though.

Installed Crysis 1 yesterday, had a couple of hours on it. Really enjoying it to be honest, abit different to my usual Valve games. I run everything on the "High" setting, no AA though. Looks pretty good at this, just wonder what it would look like at maximum settings!

Or higher? High res texture pack and some minor config tweaks + 16x AF & 16Qx FSAA, bit overkill lol

I remember shooting at a sniper in the forest across the river and the whole other side of the forest lit up (with gunfire from that many enemies!)

I was like, oh hai xxx

/ runs for cover

I'm not at home so I logged onto steam with my phone and it had a credit card that I didn't recognise... Oddly it accepted it so I wonder what will happen. :D
