Cup Alternator

My alternator is on the way out (stop and battery light on if you use headlights or revs drop below 1k) so I need a new one, or a low mileage 2nd hand one or a refurb or something LOL

I've been checking ebay for ages and they don't seem to come up

Emailed/PM'd and sent an ebay message to cliospares but as usual no reply at all

Anyone know of somewhere I can buy one?

Laguna 1.8 8v alternator works. You have to change the wiring very slightly and add a switched live. Think mk1 1.8/williams/megane also fit, and some volvos

I got one from a local refurb place, looked brand new... and a decent warranty £84 iirc

That's what I'm looking for - a local refurb place that can either refurb mine (I don't mind car off road for a week) - or sell me a refurbed one

Crikey £125 seems a s**t load for a second hand alternator with no warranty

Will a regular 172 alternator fit? Or does it have to be one from a cup?

Was trying to get one myself I got a couple of part no's from renault you prob can see the number on your alt (I couldn't the sticker has vanished)

Not sure if the u's in the numbers should be v's the blokes hand writing aint the best.

Where did those prices come from Marc? Are they renault prices?

If so that aint bad at all - I might just buy a brand new one

I bet my back teeth mine is one of the £180+vat ones though

Yep renault. Went to a few motor factors etc and some of their prices were higher pretty cetain thats exchange cost.

Knowing Renault they prob gave you the partno.'s for just the pulley on the alternator or somethin in the like.. looking in the computer for ages and still talking bullshit afterwards. these prices can't be right ?

Wow this is a nightmare

Just been on phone to Renault - they are all based on an exchange but even giving chassis number and reg plate they can't narrow down what alternator I have

He gave me these codes

A13V1259 & A13VI00 - as £180 + vat but said they are used on the big cars with air con etc.. so his gut feeling is a Cup without air con might use one starting with A11V which is £102 + vat

But I'd have to give them an actual code
Just been looking at my car and there's no code on the alternator at all - on the back it just says "Valeo" but no code

I can see this being a major pain

Arggh the part number is supposed to be on a sticker - well that's fantastic. I have literally no way of finding out which valeo alternator is on my car and Renault can't supply me with one without the part code
