Cup Mod Advice Please?

Ok so here's the thing....I have a totally standard 172 Cup but want to make some subtle changes.
So can anyone give me some advice on the following...

1) Which panel filter is the best one to upgrade to? I don't want a full on induction kit, i just wanna make it breathe a bit easier!

2) Which spring/damper or coilover set would stiffen the car up and reduce the roll without dropping it too low? I only wanna go about 20-30mm.
And finally....

3) Does anyone have, or at least have an opinion on, the KTEC "hidden" Exhaust system? Again i want a bit of a note without being too "rudeboy"!

Any feedback would be grand as im going round in circles!

2) Would recomend eibach pro springs and dampers, very litle change in ride height but much better handling. Maybe gor for sportline srpings for little bit more noticeable drop.

3) I think the k-tec stealth (hidden) exhaust sounds ok, but if you dont know its got a stealth your just going to think its got a hole on the exhaust, so personally i went for a twin exit tail pipe. If you want more subtle, maybe just a smaller single exit. I would recomend pro-speed in cardiff as they will be able to tune the sound to suit your requirements

I was thinking the ITG panel would be the one to go for so its good to hear it from someone else!
Also like the sound of the eibach springs and dampers as i haven't heard a bad comment bout them yet.

As for the exhaust, i was keen to keep everythin hidden thats why i have been considering the stealth but good point about the fact it may seem i have a hole somewhere!

Any other opinions on the suspension and stealth system anyone?

Any good custom exhaust place will be able to knock out a stealth exhaust system for you.. have a search for peeople's recommendations..
stealth is the way to go IMO.. dont have the headache of choosing tailpipe design, or cleaning it, or cutting bumper to suit it..

Any good panel will be an improvement over the standard (K&N, Green, ITG). I've got a Green in my 172 and am pretty happy with it...cheap too at around £30.

I'm running a K-tec Stealth and am very happy with the way it looks and the sound....also as the doc says, no issues with cutting bumpers or tailpipes hitting bumpers etc.

ITG panel filter, anything else apart from the Maxogen isn't worth it imo. I wouldn't bother with the eibachs if you want a noticable drop cos you won't see one. Get coilovers, H&R's are what I have and they are grrrrrrrrreat.

Infact just the H&R coilovers alone will transfrom the car considerably.

Some people may want to keep the ride height the same though and improve handling.

Why are ITG panels always rated over other filters?

the ITG filters are generally accepted on here to be the best replacement panel filter you can get. Personally I have no experience of them, but have only ever heard good things about them.

In response to saying go for H&R's, the guy said he wanted only a very small drop (20 - 30mm), which is why i recommended the eibach setup. With the pro springs he will get around 15-20mm drop, and a very good suspension package, or if he decideds that he would prefer a slightly lower stance, then he could opt for the sportlines which would give around a 30mm drop.

Im thinking of going with the Eibach's with the pro springs as it sounds like it will give me the amount of drop i'd want.

As for the exhaust, i agree with TheDoc and NeilG about the not having the hassle with cutting the rear bumper and as ive said, im really going the subtle look.

So its an ITG Panel, Eibachs/Pro Springs and a KTEC Stealth.
Think the ITG panel is doable but the rest will have to wait till i have more cash!

Glad to hear your going for the subtle look Ollie..matter of taste but I'm definately keeping mine looking standard as I'm not keen on the modified look.

yes they work fine on standard dampers. I have pro's on standard dampers and they are fantastic. If i ever get round to buying uprated shocks I'm either going with the eibachs or konis, think i'm leaning towards eibach tho.

Itg is a foam filter and the K&N and Green are cotton ones i thought that cotton was a more free flowing than foam ?

In genral yes cotton is more free flowing, but the ITG foam filters are excellent, and as I have said earlier, they are deemed the best renault by many tuners and modders alike.

Eibach pro's on a 172 wont lower 20mm, it'll be more like 10mm.
Now eibach sportline springs, they'll lower a bit more, say 20mm.. just the job.
Got a green panel filter on mine.. seems to be doing its job well enough.

Yep, till your rear dampers dump all their oil on the floor!

Personally i would do the entire suspension at the same time. i bought my 172 cup with spax springs on it and the drivers side rear damper has just gone, so i've got to replace the lot now!
