Thinking about selling the Cup and buying a bike and a cheaper car...

Why not? Use the car for day to day and the bike for weekends. Make sure you get a reliable carthorse for the slog though.

That was the plan... It would be my first bike so could get something like a Suzuki SV for 2k and have maybe 4 to spend on a car...

Getting a Golf Gti mk2/3 for about 1500 ish - The mk2 engines last forever and are very easy to maintain!

Suzuki Bandit 600cc - Very good bike to learn on mate - Very good handling, But can also be very fast if need be.

Thats almost exactly what Im after doing...

Sell the Cup for about 7

Bike for 2k, car for 1.5-2, a garnd on passing the test and getting all the kit, then Ill have two vehicles neither of which will depreciate much...

I was just actually thinking about doing the same thing, I have a full bike license but never actually used it since I passed my test.

Was gonna buy a cheapo 125cc aprilla for going to work on everyday and other little trips and keep the car for when I need to take the GF out or need the boot space.

My bro had an Aprillia RS125 as his first bike and loved it. A little bit unreliable but it is a race bike for the road and he said it handles better than any other bike he has ridden. He now has a SV 650 S which is alot faster in a straight line.

But a doctor I know said that the people who work in hospitals have a name for bikers. "Organ donors".

Ive done my theory, saving up for a DAS course. I quite fancy a suzuki sv650s too, hopefully at the start of next summer . wastempted by suzuki 0% finace adn £1 deposit thats going untill the end of august but ive decided to save the money. dont need any more debts!

When I used to drive boring company cars... I used to ride my bike all the time...

Ive got a Clio 182 & a VFR400 NC30.

Keep the car and buy a CBR400 or something, something for around £1500-£1800. If you can wait till the end of the season im sure you could pick up a bargain. eBay is good for bargains if you know what your looking for in the auction, if you know nothing then maybe the dealer and warranty is best for you.

I picked up a 1989 NC30 with 52,000kms on the clock, was a ex race bike so the bike and engine are maintained really good and the engine dont cover many miles. I think the speedo is off a RC30 so that accounts for the high mileage. The bike tops out at 145mph, and does about 0-60 in about 4.5secs. Its not as fast as some other bikes on the straights, but im sure it would eat a bandit 600 on the straights, and in the right hands shock some bigger bikes too. Get yourself a nice race exhaust, a HRC (Honda Race Corporation) wiring loom and CDI, tune it up, remove the 112mph restrictor, lighten the bike by replacing the stand kit with aluminium.....and you have a ideal race bike for the road.

Why pick a Suzuki GSF600 when you could pick up something like a R6 or so..

Oh yea, bike insurance on the NC30 TPFT is £105 a year....with 2yrs NCB and passing test in 1998. Most people dont pay more than £400. A mate has a N reg GSXR600 and paid £350 TPFT.

Theyre 125cc standard and he has a 400cc motorcross engine in it (the suspension set up allows u to use any motorcross engine in em), he prefers smaller engines cause you can ride em flat out (without killing yourself!) and nothings faster than them through the twisties, so light and maneouverable.

Honda CBR 600s are pretty common, but good solid bikes and quick too. Plenty around on the 2nd hand market.

svs are lush bike prob my fav. thought the "s" came fully faired.

KDF dont get a 125 get a 250 much better.
