Cup Owners - tyres

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Be very careful with cheap tyre companies.Im not saying you should pay the earth for quality but i had a friend who thought hed get a cheap set of tyres for his escort cos and proceeded to order them.In all he saved bout eighty quid and thought it was great till he had to have at least 50grammes on each wheel to level them out.Apparently alloys are made to a higher standard than the tyres we put on them.So the balancing standards for some tyres falls short and they are sold off cheap. This doesnt make them ilegal but you have to watch wot your doing.for example yokohama tyres are made to a higher standard than almost anything which is why the tyre fitters line up the little yellow dot on the tyre with your valve and away you go...

p.s.My friend has now gone throgh his set of above mentioned crap and has got brigestone s-02s and has got about 15g on the whole set of alloys

Ive just put Yoko A539 on my Cup for £45 each to see how they fair against the contis. Initial impression is much more grippy in dry not so competent in the wet but then it makes driving much more fun around the bends.

Be slightly wider (10mm???) and the diameter would be slightly smaller (5%?????)

I paid £58 for Conti. (185/55/15) - fitted.
