Cup Panel Filter...

Car  172, Tiguan

From what i am assuming the Green Filter is the best??

But what is the best, i.e. cheapest place to buy it from??

Want to keep my Cup standard for aprox 5 minutes from new.

Dont know mate, seems that most people mention the green one on here!

Has the Pipercross one made a difference? Was it expensive?

Ive just fitted a Pipercross to my 172. Feels a little more eager at low revs, other than that not a lot of difference.

Came in at around £38 from K-Tec. But I forgot to use my club discount

No noticable increase in noise that I can tell.

Mine is going on a RR next month so Ill let you know what it produces. If I can get/bare to watch 2 runs, Ill try it with the standard and Pipercross on it.

How easy are these things to fit ? And do you have use a pipe to route hot air on to the filter???

Planning to fit one to my cup, if reno ever get round to making it. (expected mid october now)

Doddle to fit if its a panel filter, as long as you have a torx screwdriver set anyway. Just undo the 6 torx screws, loosen the jubilee clip that holds the pipe, take the lid off the airbox and youre in. No need for any additional pipes etc.

5 if its been into renault recently for a 12,000 mile service... lol

Call ITG for the replacement panel filter, I kid you not these are spot on for any 172. Excellent quality and even small gains, without the loss of power associated with an IK. They must be good filters they go in most F1 cars!!!!!

Ive got a green panel filter. I posted some RR data on here about 10 days ago - I was moaning about the affect air temp has on performance because Id rrd in 91F!

Anyway, with standard filter got 163, and with green filter got 167. Someone pointed out that my original filter did have 9000 miles worth of crap in it, so just changing to a clean renault filter might have had a similar outcome.

On the positive side: i) definate increase in rortiness / noise which encourages you to use the whole rev range, just for that rally car sound, and ii) car appears to rev a little more freely after 6000 revs where previously Ive felt the power start to tail off.
