With K-Tec currently selling their Sadev gearbox for nigh on 6k, what's a Cup race car worth?

depends on condition, those rapped palmer sport ones were worth about 5k
good condition as fred said 8k - 10k, i really want to buy one but ive gone too far with the clio now that thats going o a trailer next year

the palmer ones were bought at £6K and sold for £8K if i remember what the lad who bought them told me

I was offered a box for £1200, still waiting for a date to collect it

6K is too much for a 2nd hand box, at 3k there could be a bigger market, you can get one built to spec by quaiffe for not much more than that (6-7k).

a car is never worth the value of the sum of it's parts.

The Ktec box has been rebuilt and is effectively new. Therefore it is probably worth the 5k they are asking.

3-4.5k second hand is about right.

Personally i think if you buy a sequential you should get a straight cut one though. The European cup cars had straight cut gears, the UK cars had helical.

To be honest if you take off the sequntial box from the cup cars, there isnt an aweful lot left that is worth much monry. So the fact they go for about 2-3k above the price of the GB is about right.

Ktec box is more expensive because it uses the standard driveshafts, subframe and mounts unlike the 'normal' sadev units...

I may well, although I'll get a 172/182 road car again, I'll then finish another car, sell that then .....well we'll see.
