14.2 well he said if if had a LAD conversion hed deffo run 14 secs 1/4 mile pmsl.

yea.....ok.....headwork in a head that dont need to be worked in conjuction with a TB that dont flow any more than std so the head wont get any benefit except at low rpm (if they did a good job) where peak power isnt made, but that induction kit and higher inlet temps on an extreemly temp sensitive engine with no fueling adj and claimed tweeking of cam timing on a cam that has a simple pahsing device might just help eh!?

Phew....one long sentance.....

yea right!

One short sentance.

I cant match any of those car times yet (dont remember ever saying I could) and no the LAD will not improve the cups quarter mile by more than 0.5 sec) It is possible to beat any of those cars down a strip - 0.5 secs is not alot to the naked eye, you cant record that with your eyes - but with recording equipment on a drag strip you can - but what if one of thoe cars has a bad start or misses a gear and the driver of a cup doesnt -and has a perfect run, it only takes 0.5 of a second to f**k up ! Ill be damned if you can measure 0.5/0.6 of a second on the road.........on the strip yeas coz its timed but to the naked eye any of those cars going up the strip with a cup would be seen as basically neck and neck - the computer would time the actaul results , so in real world performance terms who cares theres nothing noticable in it ! and Tim0172s already does 14.7 quarter mile and dropping . so it aint reall y a giant step up to any of those quarter mile times you posted! ;)

0.5 over a 1/4 mile to the naked eye looked noticeable to me. Got beaten by a TT225 convertible who ran 15.1 and I ran 15.6 and he was far enough away for the comentator to kindly mention that Id been thrashed!

Rhys

So you telling me that if your watching two cars cross a line 0.5 secs apart that that equals a thrashing? Try counting from 0 - 0.5 secs then! Thats like the other guy giving u a 0.5 sec head start! Gee.....thanks, 1/2 a second.........woooaahhh.........We aint even talking 2 secs, a thrashing equals when ucross the line in twice the time it takes the other guy! Were talking 10ths of seconds here - its riduculous!

Cupsize, all Im saying is that 0.5 seconds is noticeable after a 1/4 mile. Fair enough if you think its "ridiculous", but its true. I lost that race by 0.5 seconds and I set off first and by the finish line he was a few car lengths in front. My eyes can distinguish between "neck and neck" and a few car lengths!

In 0.5 seconds at 100mph you will travel about 70ft, I think....

Edit - Oh yeah, a 1.2 Clio will do the 1.4 mile in something like 18.5 seconds. Only 3.5 seconds slower than a 172. Not even near twice the time that you would require to call it a thrashing!!!!! Have you been 1/4 miling much, Cupsize?!

rhys,

bang on, 0.5 secs at 100mph is a big distance,

what i would say is pah to all these 1/4 mile times, BOLLOX who cares about 1/4 mile drag strip times, dont mean a cars good if it can do a fast 1/4 mile

  williams and trophy

so wot does a GOOD car entail?

mine does the weekly shop

carries my 2 kids around with pram n nappies etc.

corners lie its on rails

accelerates to put a lot more expensive machinery to shame

looks good

is comfy

does a 14.8 1/4 time

does all i ask it to do

so yeah id say mine is a GOOD car

a good car 2 one might not be a good car 2 another (not saying urs isnt 2 live!!!)

  clio 20v

so a ferrari testarossa does the quarter in 14.2

so if i race my mum in a rari rossa ive got a gud chance of winnin hehe

adi

Mine should do 1/4 in 13.8-14 dead. (If it was running properly, which it isnt)

I still wouldnt go up against a Rossa.

And yes, .5 of a second is a lot of car lengths at 100mph.

Ben - my point was that 0.5 seconds is a big gap at a 1/4 mile, not that I can drive!!!! That was my 2nd ever 1/4 mile run. In the first one I valiantly beat an XR2 with a time of 16.1 seconds :oops::oops::oops::oops:

wast meaning that mate! haha

just that drag racing makes normal cars look dead slow, also your further from teh camera, so as you stay infocus, the TT goes flying past.
