Just a quickie

Is it legal or illegal to move one letter like this

This isnt the actual reg im thinking of, just an example, dont want anybody knickin my nice little find :D

A10 BNN

to

A10B NN

Who could I get to make up the slightly dodgy number plate ? :D

yep illegal sorry to say, most companies wont make them for you now as they by law are supposed to put their details on the plate although you can ask for show plates, if you do go for this i think it can be a large fine so be warned

Just to add, Ive got a number plate with the letters mis-spaced, had it since I got the car (March last year) and so far so good. I have kept the legal typeface and not altered the letters so its still very readable. I think if you play with the letters to make them look like something they are not, or go for mad fonts then you might be more likely to get pulled for them

Trouble is you have to be good, because if you are pulled and you have done nothing wrong then they will find the plates and do you for that.

i agree with tony, mine is mis spaced but wth legal type face i think the law are okay with that!

i dont think that police are really that bothered about the spacing unless u are messing around or at things like cruieses and they want an excuse to pull ya.

Totally Illegal! There has been a drive to prosecute owners of vehicles displaying these type of registration plates. If you get away with it then it is just pure luck!

I have got a superbike plate on mine now!! Its the smallest numberplate in the world!! Just counting down the days untill I get pulled!!

Now, according to the RAC Foundation, personalised plates are frequently bought to reflect the drivers name, profession, opinion or hobby.

However, September will also see a tightening up of the laws governing registration plates - making many which are currently in use illegal and subject to hefty fines.

Rules on standard fonts, lettering and spacing are to be introduced, outlawing many of the italic and silly cyberscript examples currently in use.

We were pulled for the plate on johns car, followed us for a while pulled us for the small fact that the type font was too narrow not italic or misspaced nothing else, cost to us new set of plates not much but inconvienence of havig to have new plates made. you will be lucky if they dont pull you.

Sounds good to me, I dont think anyone would really notice that the letter has moved as it will all be standard typeface and size

Cheers for the link GirlRacer I will probably use them when I get the reg
