Cutting Out After Motorway Journys due to Lumpy Idle/Misfire

Hi,

Couple of months ago, my Clio decided it liked to have a lumpy idle which got so bad that it started to stall itself at junctions. Scouted about for advice, replaced the coil pack and all was fine.

Now a few months down the line, whenever I'm traveling somewhere it high speeds, when I come off the motorway, there's a very bad lumpy idle/misfire which sometimes causes it to stall when taken out of gear on slip road! Then when driving at 30mph or so, it seems to be reluctant to move.

Once turned off and left and left for a day or two, it goes back to normal until another motorway is involved.

Any ideas on what it could be? Very annoying and pretty dangerous tbh :(

Could be your HT leads? When I was foolish enough to get water into the spark plugs wells on my car my HT leads got moisture in them which when the car warmed up after driving for 15 minutes it would start to misfire and run on 3 cylinders. Eventually when they dried out it was fine and has been ever since :approve: I'd give your leads a check as a start to solving this issue. :)

What Clio is it please... 172, 182 or something else?

It really should be looked at matey as there's a few things it could be but without seeing it makes it hard to say what exactly... oh and guessing can get expensive! I'm only in Nottingham if you want to drop in or Fred is in Birmingham and there are other places available to.

Cheers for the replies lads.

Its a 51 plate 1.2 Dynamique. Thought I'd ask to see if there was a simple-ish solution before taking it anywhere, although I think that would be the best option to take it somewhere.

First things first then, I'd be pulling the TB out of the inlet and giving it a bloody good clean as chances are its not been done in a long, long time. Then I'd be looking at the wiring as the 1.2 16v is plagued with electrical gremlins.

Whoever you take it to, just be sure they know the Clio II inside and out otherwise you'll probably be going backward and forward with it all the time.
