Jobs a goodun. Went back to efi today to (originally) get the map reduced to 'stage 1' from the 'stage 2' it was been mapped to, mainly cos I'm just over paranoid.
Since having the clutch and service though the car has felt a lot better so I spoke to Chris when I got there today and he assured me that it's no safer really to have it stock/stage whatever as long as it's mapped right and torque is capped at the assumed 300 lb/ft limit. There can never be guarantees obviously and mapped engines are under more stress than oem of course.
I guess it is just down to lazy mapping and the luck of having a good engine. To be honest I don't hear of any bent rods below 300 lb ft, just piston damage, more likely down to fuelling.
Obviously maintenance will have a bearing on this too.
So rather than get sucked into all the theories and guess work raging on forums and facebook pages, I'm just going to stop worrying about it and enjoy the bloody thing. What Chris says goes.
So got it on the rollers as I was booked in for an hour and he'd come in early to fit me in (Chris is mega). First run and we instantly saw the difference the r26r Clutch and smf made - an extra 11 ish lbft so it was at 312 lb ft around 3-3.5k rpm.
Didnt get the torque graph but the one below shows the difference at 3k
So glad I brought it down, plus it was an opportunity to make sure everything else is ok after the 630cc injector drama on someone elses thread (case closed)
New configuration map shown below. Torque capped at 300 and power dropped following the torque tweak to 272.5 from 276, maybe cos I'm using vpower now instead of tesco 99? Either way its negligible, figures aren't important, the shape of the graph is, afr is smooth and it drives perfectly
Hopefully all good at oulton tomorrow
