Dash light and sometimes limp acceleration

Hi all,

I have got the below pic come up on my dash and doesn't disappear.

I have a decatted scorpion rs192 system with the 2nd lamda plugged up in the heat shield. Since having it decatted the light does come on every now and again but only lasts 2-3 days tops then goes off but this time it has stayed on for a few weeks.

I have noticed recently that it seems to limp every now and again. The car is always left ticking over for 10mins before driving but it gets to around 2.5k and seems to stutter for a few seconds then dissapears. The other day I went to overtake on a d/c and it did the above for a few seconds then picked up acceleration.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mark.

Went to pick up some bits off a member on here today and we got talking about the above problem. He plugged in the reader and it came up with these:

He mentioned that it could be the pre-cat lamda. Would this be the case?

Cheers joe. I typed it in on google and see that. Just wanted to double check.

I read on here that someone mentioned swapping my pre-cat lambda with my post-cat lambda before purchasing a new one and seeing if the problem remains. Would this be advised, or would it not work that way?

Yeah it would work. The post cat one doesn't do anything anyway so swapping them round will give you the answer

Ok so u bought some 2nd hand lambda's of a member off here, both pre and post cat. I took my old ones out and replaced them with the new ones. The car now seems to run fine. No hesitation or lumpy idle, however the light still remains on :(

Ive disconnected the battery for a couple of hours and connected it back up but with no joy.

Any thoughts?

Yeah I see that, and it might be worth buying just to get that annoying light off, but if the light is still currently on then its still registering a problem?

The de-catting is always an issue on cars with two oxy sensors (Lamda's front & rear of cat). Basically how they work... is they control fuel mixture... they measure the oxygen content of the exhaust gases..... the first one in front of cat is downstream, if you rev your car with diagnostic equipment connected... you will see the voltage rise up & down..... if your car still has a cat fitted, the voltage of the 2nd lamda (upstream) will stay steady, might move a couple of mVolts, but not much, thats becasue the cats doing its job!!!!

If you remove the cat.... the 2nd lamda, (after cat) the voltage changes dramitically, as its seeing a huge increase in CO2, so the ECU thinks the car is being overfuelled, so the stutter you feel, or even going into limp home mode, is the fuelling being backed off.

Ok so the code reader came through the post the other day and I got straight out there and wiped it off. I took it out today and driving is normalised with none of my op's symptoms. I'm back up to 34ish mpg so that's good. (Was down to high 28's)

However my light has come back on. I kept the code reader in the car and wiped it again. Stayed off while I was driving around, yet later in the day it's come back on again. Seems to be doing it after the ignition is turned on/off about 5 times or so.

This is what comes up when plugged in:

Code 1:

Code 2:

Anyone had this come up before and found the solution? Like I say it's running fine but the fact that the light keeps appering tells me something's not right.

Thats pointing towards your Lamda sensor downstream, (before cat) You need to go to live data & see what the voltage is doing, before replacing it.
It says circuit.......... so if it isnt a wiring fault.... will be the sensor itself.

No. But it's been decatted for nearly 2 years and I've only ever had the light stay on for a few days then go off for a few weeks/months. This time it's on constant.

If you haven't already check the lamda sensor before the cat but the wiring ASAP! I had this come up and didn't realise the wire had burnt from a broken clip where is was hanging down.
