Having completed Dawn of War and both the add-ons, just wondering if there were any other extras worth downloading anyone knows of the continue the game (decent maps, extra units or races etc).

I would love to get Supreme Commander having been a massive fan of Total Annihilation a few years ago, but don't think my PC can handle it

it might if i t can handle dawn of war. you should think about getting tiberium war mate, it's awesome and will run on your spec too.

i believe a load of mod packs came out for the 1st expansion pack. you could get demon hunters and tyranids and eldar harlequinns and stuff but no new missions or anything...

Really... that would be cool. Although apparently Warhammer is a bit of a geek hobby, the PC game is excellent. Do you know where I can download the extra units from at all?

Is Tiberium Wars the new C&C or the second one?

Supreme Commander might run on the most basic settings on my PC, but will have terrible slow-down on larger maps, and my graphics card is pretty old now too.

timmay - no thats tiberium sun.... the new one is called tiberium war. it's fantastic.

i never played the role playing game etc. but i know a lot about it cause i used to paint when i was younger, i am a nerd anyway, not afriad to admit it. I've read up a lot on the 40k universe as it's really intricate and has evolved over a long time. great game i loved it, search the web for dawnofwarfiles and it's on there under mods.
haven't played supreme commander yet!

Have you tried Company of Heroes, m8?

By the same firm (Relic) and not as many units as DoW, but personally I think it's a much better game.

Tiberium Wars is a cracking game too. Proper cheesey, over-the-top stuff which just works brilliantly.

I completed it with one gfx card under the lid. Might be intertesting now to retry it with SLi. Assuming the nigh-on hopeless nVidia drivers support it properly....

nice. i don't have an SLi setup ... yet but when i do, i'll just reinstall msot game to run them full whack...that'll be fun!

DoW runs on the 1024x700 resolution but still suffers slow down during mid battles. The last C&C game I owned was the original Red Alert and that was fantastic... loved the Mammoth tanks and Tesla Coils. Looking back though the AI was terrible... the CPU just sat in its base most the time and often blocked tanks behind buildings!

Supreme Commander is meant to be excellent. I have a soft spot for giant robots too so should be good - when I get my next PC will pick it up.

DoW I have found to be a really good game, I especially like the Dark Crusade add-on which allows some decent skirmishes against a wide variety of opponents, and involves a fair bit of strategy in between levels. Some levels are just too difficult though even on normal difficulty - you will have just built a barracks and there are 50 enemies on there way already! Good variety of units although would have preffered a few more base defences. Tyranids are the insect like aliens if memory serves correct? That should be pretty good if that race has been modelled well. Has anyone tried this mod yet?

i tried it, it's rubbish to be honest, the reason they didn't implement it in an add on, was because the engine couldn't support the number of units that it would need. the best one are the demonhunters, really proffesional mod that one.

if your havingproblems with DoW then forget supreme commander and company of heroes, C&C3 might work on minimum settings...

Cool well might try the Demonhunters then. I liked the robot army (Tau?) but they had no base defences at all as far as I could tell, so you either have to defend and eventually get over-run, or attack and risk leaving your base(s) exposed. A complete flaw if you ask me.

That's why I liked Total Annihilation, had hundreds of units and loads to download. I remember the Maverick being the coolest and the Sumo, the Krogoth was very cool but just too good, took like a hundred units to take it down and just unbalanced the game really, especially as you could have multiple of them.

tau had artillery platforms who could dig into the ground if i remeber correctly and the resourced poitns had defence on them , they were good if you knew how to use them..

They were ok those robots but they ate into your population cap, so in a full on battle you might have a third of your army stuck behind acting as defences. The strategic points did have weapons on but they all did I think?

A wasted opportunity - not enough robot armies in RTS I reckon!
