Worth buying one of these for commuting to Uni every day, going to be doing about 400 miles a week and my clio's getting on a bit.

Bit more poke than the 1.2 I'm used to or just about the same? Any common faults I should look out for when buying?

You will be better off with the DCi.

The 80 will have more poke then the 1.2.... if ur looking to keep it long term over the 1.2 see if there is any 100's about as they are fun!! and still economical.

Wudnt bother with the 65 tho, drove one and no fun at all with no real benifit in MPG.


Usual things really, make sure its been looked after, a badly looked after engine will bite u in the ass on one of these, on the whole they are pretty good with just the usual clio Mk2 niggles.

They're much more torquier, fun and very good for overtaking. Very cheap to run. And once remaped will put a big smile on your face

Faster, not as nippy, feels a good bit heavier (kinda feels more planted), you'll notice it if your commute includes any inclines

Cheers for that link, answers a few of my questions, had a look about for the 100 but I seem to recall hearing that the gearboxes were pretty pants.

Dci80 is lighter than 1.2 and 1.4 much more torquier, 65 MPG bigger anti roll bars,don't get the 100 has a weaker gearbox the 80 has the 172 box.as usual make sure the cambelt has been done and serviced regurlary because of the coke build up in the engine

Are the 100 gearboxes really that bad then?

I see the Dci's are quite tunable as well, was it you that was saying they had 115BHP after a remap?

Generic maps like from ktec will give you qbout 105 my my map was written from sctratch and unique to my car I shall be going back for about 15 more break once it is dectted and changed the induction so they are not too bad for a small diesel once tweaked!
