DCI Problem

Guys, I know its not a Clio Sport, but my mate has a DCI Clio on an 05 plate, its losing power and chucking black smoke out the back, he can accelerate through it and it seems to clear, but is doing it intermittently, am I right in thinking it probably down to an injector, or maybe the diesel pump?

Try to clean the EGR valve. Dont start with the most expensive thing Also check if Air is not leaking.
It can have many issues.
Does it start fine and easy?
Any lights on dash?

Egr or the intake pipe from the egr to the manifold will give that problem.

Just to let you guys know, seems like it might have been the EGR, was pretty dirty, clean it out and it seems ok, time will tell, but thanks for your help
