de-cat pipe on 1.8 16v releases 3bhp

jsut been reading some french websites about the renault 19 16v/s when they were launched back in 1990. this was before they had cat laws in france, so the origianl ones came without cats, the power outputs were;

140bhp @ 6500rpm

121lb/ft torque @ 4500rpm

bhps not up much, but the torque has risen from 116lb/ft, which is nice-the more torque the merrier.

jsut thought every1 would like that nugget of info! LOL:D

The earliest Clio 16vs came without a cat, but there were literally a batch of only 500 or so of them, all on a J-plate. French 16vs had been around for 6 months longer, so more of them might be cat-less. Maybe that explains the infamous one that Autocar tested in late 1991 with a 0-60 of 7.3 and all-round better figures for acceleration than the Willy?

The post 92 1.9 205 GTi was down 10bhp to 120bhp with the addition of a cat.
