  Clio MK2 (1.2)
Right, going to see the guy later but i just wana kno around how much is the De-Cat Section ?? dont want a full system as i wana keep the "Stealth" look on the car..

  Clio MK2 (1.2)
have u got a back box aswell? if not do u get a good rumble? or is it worth gettin a back box 2 ?

  Clio 172 Cup
i've got a ktec stealth exhaust as well, which sounds like blowing in a bottle.

the decat makes it sound very loud and raspy when the throttle is blimped or suddenly floored, but is ok when driven sensibly.

will definelty give you a good power increase.

  Clio MK2 (1.2)
cool. cheers for the info, il probz ask for a petter back box 2, as i wont have to bother then for atleast a couple ov years haha

iirc Janspeed make the decats for K-Tec

good choice with the 182 manifold, it'll certainly sound different now too!

should be looking at good gains

yea hopefully the ceramic coating will be worth the cash to looks like a good job internal and external coating, just gotta attack my magnex backbox with some autoglym and i didnt keep the backbox clean with my current bumper and the 172 bumper is going on before fcs

Check with your insurance company as most won't insure due to be 'not road legal'.

Even greenlight who do track day cover will not insure you on the road with a decat.

So if you had, had an accident you would not of been covered :S

If you don't disclose info, you ain't covered fact!

yup if i had an acident i wouldnt have been covered, and im sure i'll get away with 1ft bit of pipe thats right under the car you cant actually see it unless you get underneath the car!

Insurance companies trying to rip people off...

£120 for a decat pipe is a joke. I'd be inclined to get big shitty liers or powerflow to make one. To be fair its only a piece of pipe. :quiet:

Its not just a bit of straight pipe, which you can just tape on. Here are the pipe details (have a look at the picture: http://k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2034):

1. Stainless Steel
2. Pipe has to be bent to achieve connection with the manifold flange
3. Has two flanges at 5 mm thick, one to connect to the manifold, one to connect to the centre section
4. Is flared at each end
5. Has two points for fitting lambda sensor which require drilling and welding nuts on it.
6. Has a number of welds on it

Taking all the above into account you also have to include in the price the labour time, materials and profit.

So at the end of the day its a fair price.

(i promise you i am not sales person for ktec!)

once you have the jig set up.... You could fire them out by the bucket load. don't let anybody tell you that welding two flanges and a couple of nuts onto some stainless pipe is big deal lol. Trouble is that a) stainless prices are sky high b) People charge the earth for labour

making the flanges (several decat pipes on the market use s**t flanges)

bending the pipe sections, welding the pipe sections together, back purging, welding in the lambda bosses, polishing the pipe, coating the ends, (this is TIG i'm on about here)

it takes around 4.5 hrs to make 1!

you could bosh them together with MIG and have then done in half the time, but then they would be merely a bit of pipe with MIG blobbed on it

fabrication is an art form!

  Tweaked Leon Cupra R
yeah but if you know how to weld properly with tig, it shouldn't take that much more time than mig..

the longest part is tacking up..

p.s. stainless is a b**ch to weld!

  Lionel Richie
believe me Andy it does! welding 2 sections of pipe together with a back purge takes a good 10-15min to weld all the way round (you have to do it in sections otherwise you get deformation)

I know. The welder fabricators here TIG weld 2/4/6/8" stainless flanges, fittings of all descriptions, bends, sets all day. stop trying to make it out to be more than it's not - In the great scheme of things it's f**k all!!

If he's got time, I'll get him to make one.

lol, most other decats on the market are between £30 - £50. I can't really except that a decat pipe is worth over £100.

  Clio MK2 (1.2)
gettin mine next friday :) as thats when he is available, £50 not bad imo, he asked me about the lambard sensor, i didnt kno what to say so i said go ahead with it and il try and find a solution cz i dont want my engine managment on everytime, so how can i solve that problem??

im just gettin the De-cat section as i want the stealth exhaust and no point bothering in upgrading it..

whats the difference between Sport De-Cat and a normal De-cat?? as he said he can bypass the lambard sensor by doing a Sport 1, but that was £230 which i though fu* dat lol...

  Clio MK2 (1.2)
i avnt got a 182 lol. no point looking at my avatar cz dat says i got a 172, i avnt but i just got dat Mk Clio. couldnt get a pic ov mine up for sum reason,...

if anybody could help with the above post i posted plz, would be very gratefull :)
