de-cat questions?

Thinking about getting a decat pipe as the flange on my cat has corroded!

Will a decat cause mpg to drop?
Do they sound s**t with a standard exhaust?
Is there anyway to stop the management light coming on?

Should i go for it and get one, or just get a new cat or have my one repaired?
