Deactivate 172 Alarm without Plip?

  BMW M135i
With the cobra plip alarm I fitted to my old 1.6 you had a PIN and a button to enter the pin should the battery in the key go flat, you opened the door with the key alarm went off you put the code in and the alarm stopped.

Obviously its a similar alarm in the 172 but theres no way (I can see) to deactivate the alarm without the plip? Nothing in the manual either?

Anyone know anything about this? Seems a bit of a shitter if theres no way to do it.

Where was the button on your old one located?

Never seen that on a standard Renualt alarm ^^^

It wasn't a standard renault alarm it was a cobra plip upgrade jobbie which worked the same as the renault alarm, had a button combined with the LED by the gearstick.

I'm assuming theres no way with the renault alarm then? f**k knows what your supposed to do if you break the plip or the battery goes flat then. Look a bit suspicious driving around with the alarm going off lol.

Oh any luck on the tweeter cover Has?

No backup procedure then for these alarms! Great LoL

Gonna dig out the shed in a mo for it. So fingers crossed its on the dash still.

Ah thats ok it definetly a renault then! Let me know on the cover fingers crossed here :).

the alarm only sounds for 30 seconds

And repeats? Or just sounds once? Pretty naff if it only sounds once because most people would ignore an alarm going off for 30 secs then stopping.

If the battery goes flat in the plip or you have openend the door from the key barrel without pressing the plip, when the alarm sounds just put the key in the ignition and switch on, that will stop the alarm, it can happen if you open the door too quickly after pressing the plip.

If you want to lock the car and the plip does not work, sit in the passenger seat, press the lock button on the dash then get out of the passenger door and lock the key barrel that side.

Also, on the 182 the alarm is wired in using a 6 pin black multi plug with blue sides with a lot of insulation tape around the wire harnessess, if you stick your head down into the passenger footwell an look up behind dash, that's where the plug is located, if you pull apart the multi plug it will cut the power to the alarm.

Not sure if it is wired in the same on the 172 though, as when i had alarm problems the Renault Tech pulled out the panel above the radio to check the wiring for the alarm, and could not find any.:S , not happy with their lack of expertise i had a look around the car and found the multi plug disconnected under the dash, plugged it in, alarm now working but it still had to go to the dealer as it was going off intermittently, had no problems since.
