Dont bother replacing the cat mate, just get a cat back exhaust.

Much nicer, smoother, and less boomy drive.

Ive just removed my de-cat, and reckon my car sounds nicer without.

  K20 eg 217 whp.
i have just had my RT de-catted and its really raspy, before it was just a cat-back and tbh it doesnt make much difference apart from its louder now. its easy to swap between the two tho

decat or straight through
Dont these mean the same thing, or did you mean sports cat.

No. Straight through is exactly that. Most people that remove their cat, leave the backbox/muffler/silencer/can on so that the noise isn't rediculous.

I wouldn't bother with either on a 1.2 personally. It will just look and sound like you're driving a fast car with 3 tons of bricks in the boot (i.e. sounds like you're going fast but in actual fact you're not moving)...

Straight throughs are cool, but very illegal. They also save weight.

Only illegal if you fail emmisiosns test if they do or not is questionable some do some don't.

edde if you can name a petrol or diesel engine that doesn't produce enough emmisions to fail an emmisions test then I shall eat some human feaces;)

A car is also "illegally loud" if it is over 90db. Obviously there's no way of checking that with your routine "pull" but you will still get fined everytime you drive past a cop.
