Decat with dash light

  172 cup, Impreza P1
After fitting a Decat the usual warning light came on the dash.

Can anyone tell me if you are actually losing power due to the ecu thinking the cat is Fu*ked and so adjusting the fueling or timing or is it only telling you as a warning?

Got a rolling road session next weekend and can't decide whether to change it back or not for it.

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday, does the ecu change the fuelling in any way to compensate for the gas mixture in the rear lambda sensor being incorrect.

Nope

ECU uses the first lambda sensor (pre-cat) for fuelling
The only use for the second lambda is to check the emissions are lower than the first - so it knows the cat is working
It's purely to put the light on the dash :)

Cheers mate, that's what I wanted to hear.

I was thinking the exact thing but my light didn't come on till about 2500miles after fitting the decat, I will try the solution!

Mine came on about 800 miles after fitting. I had been on 2 trackdays and on driving home from the second the light came on.

I've got so many lights on my dash now I feel like they all keep me company when driving in the dark nights! :clown:
