Decat

  172 A Cupwork Orange™
give you 10000000000000000+ bhp

on a serious note basicly derestricts the gas flow outa your car, the quicker you get it out the better, a normally aspirated car needs to be as free flowing as possible because they don't have a turbo to force the gasses out
you wont see huge gains bhp wise, however i did notice on my 172 cup it rev'd more freely and the whole rev range was alot smoother

What will it do?

The honest answer - not a lot. You won't see any power gains, the car will fail an MOT test without it - so the cat will need re-fitting when it's tested. You may notice a change in the exhaust note, but I'm not promising.

i beg to differ i noticed a big differance as soon as i put mine on my whole rev range was smoother, pulls harder, no flat spot no more strange but true

he wont noticed a dif on a 1.2 tho i dont think but never tried one one a 1.2 so cannot comment

also depends where you take it for an mot ;)

They void your insurance to. Well some companies.

^^ speaks the truth best to ring your insurance you will find a fair few will cover this tho

My answer was specific to a 1.2 engined car. I may well be wrong, but I really can't see any noticable gains coming from this.

ryt guys i have a 1.2 decat, and you lie, its rev's much easier i wouldnt say more bhp but more torque, and is a little raspier too, also when i had the cat my car ran out of puff at 5k but now it will rev to 6k no problem, if im honest im sure you will agree your going to notice the difference on something like a 1.2 more than a 2.0 as the gain is a much higher percentage gain on a smaller engine compared to a larger one. and also if your car runs on lpg like my car happens to you dont legally need to have a cat on for a mot as lpg does not emmit the gas from the exhaust that the cat is designed to take out of petrol combustion :)
