Decceleration rattle

When I'm easing off the power but not braking (for example when approacing traffic light/ junction in town), I get a really loud metallic rattle coming from my 172. This is generally from 2000-2750 revs and only occurs when easing off, not during accelaration.

It sounds like somthing thin a metal (maybe a heat shield) but I haven't really got a clue! Has anyone had this/got any suggestions on what it could be?

Thanks all,

Greg

i dont know if its the same on a clio because ive never looked on mine but i had this problem on my old fiesta zs. Turned out it was a bracket supporting the exhaust manifold that had snapped and was just rattling around on the manifold piping when there were vibrations
