Decided to get a D40...

Jessops charge £299 but there is £30 cash back from Nikon making it £270.

Most places seem to be about £299, according to Jessops online they also give you a free bag

I am going to look at the D40 and Cannon Equiv this afternoon

I bought one on tuesday from jessops. Paid £327 for the camera, 1GB sandisk card, UV filter and bag.

Not a bad deal me thinks. Go on there web site, find the deal the type in AUTUMN25 into the voucher section.

It didn't want to spend an extra £100 for the D40x as the only difference is the 10 mega pixels.

Plus you get £30 back from nikon.

In that case go with the D40! My friend at work has one. Nice bit of kit for that price!

Yeah not much point in spending the extra 100 quid.

Just need to find a few locations to test it out once I've got it.

Might take a trip to wales, lots of hills a decent roads
