Decision Time

  S4 (320bhp) + Clio 16v

Right i need some help! I have got a 16v. Its on just over 100k and the gearbox has gone. Aint gunna be cheap to fix it! I like the looks of the car and dont really want to part with it! The perfect time for a willy conversion or doing something to mine whilst its just sitting there?

I dont really wanna pay like 650-750 just to fit a gearbox and not do anything to the engine whilst it is out! I could either keep the car off the road for now and wait for a willy to turn up. Fit the gearbox. mod my enigne! Anyone got any ideas because i really dont no what to do! Plus i aint really got 1000s to spend either!

I have found somewhere that will do a williams conversion and do cams, pulleys &head work for about 1300!

People help me!

Maxiboy did u mean use williams engine and 16v box?? I aint really got that much money to spend mate. It was 1300 for parts and labour then what eva a williams engine will cost!!

Well, everything you need for a Williams Conversion will probably cost, what, £800 - £1000? So thats like, £2300!

Cheaper to just get the box done!

Or just get the Williams lump and box fitted (not worked on) for about £200-300

Surely an extra 200cc would be enough of a performance increase for now anyway!?

yer but i was thinking if im paying to get it fitted im gunna have to pay in the future to get work done on it! But i guess there is more power already just as standard!

Dax: True but i cant justify spending all that money on labour and them lifting the engine out and not doing anything to it. If that makes sence!

The only thing about using the 16V box with a Williams lump (which most do), is that the Willy box was designed to be a lot stronger than the Valvers one and Ive heard of loads of 16V boxes biting the dust soon after a Willy conversion.
