Decisions....

I'm looking for a bit of assistance. I've just joined as I'm in the process of buying a 182. Now the problem is, should I buy a 182 or the cup version? I've been looking at a few cars around Britain, phoning up garages, and some don't know if it's a standard 182 or cup. Is there any way to tell the difference by looking at the cars? Someone told me that you only get the Anthracite coloured wheels on the cup version. I was a bit dubious of that as surely when you were buying a 182 at new you could specify that colour of wheel?

Anyway, any help you could throw my way would be greatly appreciated as I'm getting to the "I want one now" stage of buying. I'm driving a Golf at the moment and really want a pocket rocket of my own. My mates brother owns a 172 and loves it, everybody I've ever spoken to with one loves them to bits.

Thanks and hello to everyone. :D

OK a 182 "full fat" with Cup pack has leather, air etc but has the darker anthracite wheels and Cup suspension.

A 182 Cup is like the 172 Cup. It has a plain "mossa" cloth interior, anth wheels and cup suspension.

I think...hehe

I never went for a cup as I wasn't too keen on the interior....full fat has the leather & toys which I like.

Easy way to spot versions:

182 Cup has cheap interior and no headlight washers and both the 182 Cup options listed below.

182 standard has the nice interior and headlight washers.

182 with Cup suspension pack is the same as standard 182 but should have dark grey wheels.

182 with Cup spoiler pack is the same as standard 182 but should have black trim along bottom of front bumper and a more curvy back roof spoiler.

Most Cup packed 182s came with spoiler and suspension options.

There are other ways of checking but these are some of the quickest visual methods.

Yeah as Neil said, if you prefer the comfort the FF has and don't mind compromising a bit of extra weight (which in the end isn't a great deal) then go for a FF.

The Cup is a bit rawer.

Thats a full fat with Cup packs by the looks as the CUp 182 never came in black also its got headlight wahers.

Cup or FUll fat 182 doesn't matter much I'd go full fat for the better resale otherwsie no realy difference weight wise.

You realy need to check the car has the CUp packs if you want them as some have the dfark coloured wheels the CUp packs had but not the suspension packagae.

Guy from Reg Vardy called me back he's managed to find out that it does have both cup packs on it. Think I might go for the FF one Edde, sounds the best option. Still think that ones overpriced though I'll keep looking, unless he gives me a really good deal on it.

Once again guys many thanks. I'll let you's know when I finally buy one.

I found this to be a problem with a lot of dealers when looking at a 182 for a mate. They didn't have a clue which version of the car they were actually selling.

  182 cup packs
I recently bought a 182 FF with cup packs and Recaros. It's strange because it has the cheap rear bench even though it's FF, probably because it has the Recaros? It's quite confusing but i made the right choice, love the extras that you don't get in a Cup and it can't be that much heavier. Anyone know the weight difference between 182 FF and Cup?

You'd think the dealers would know the difference lol! I'd personally go for the ff over the cup in the 182, there's not enough difference in speed for me to go for the one with out all the toys. If I was to go for a cup, it'd be the 172, that to me is the 'proper' cup.

Yeah....I've heard the same when it comes to cup versions with the 172 being classed as more 'raw' than the 182 cup.

All flippin' quick on the road and great fun to drive.....post some pics up when you buy it.

Most salespeople don't stay at a place more than a few years for a compnay then they move so they never realy learn the product line.

182 cups only come in racing blue or inferno orange

get a full fat for the toys i have had both and love my artic blue ff with cup packs more

if you want a cup version it must be a 172 cup as it feels faster and more fun but its scary not having abs and esp. makes it a proper drivers car though i loved my 172 cup more than my 182s

plus you get turinis and mondial blue which is the best color made
