Definative bottom end torque settings

  172, Tiguan
Hi guy's, is this info correct?

Main bearings:
Stage 1 (20nm), stage 2 (62 degrees +/- 4 degrees)

Big Ends: Stage 1 (20nm), stage 2 (40 degrees exactly).

Are replacement bolts essential, or can I get away with the old ones?

While you are at it change big ends for ARP,

Big end: (25 Nm + 110° ± 6°)

Mains: (20Nm + 62° ± 4°)

And bolts MUST be changed.

Thats cut paste right out of the latest Renault manual.

I think the bolts only need to be changed if out of tolerance levels though? And I've no plans to rev to 9k just yet so standard bolts are staying for the timebeing as the ARP bolts are a few ££

No they must always be changed period. At least thats what Renault says.

Big end bolts are a knows weakspot not chaning them to APS's when you've have it apart is just stupid if you ask me. £80 for the ARP's

But hey, its your engine.

I wouldn't say it's stupid. Renault have made a fair few F4R's with a fair few standard bolts that have lasted pretty well. Sure I'd love a set, but i'm not spending £80 on them.
