Denied Warranty Work ??

Has it happened to anyone whos modded there car as ive just booked mine in to get the Dephasor changed and get some blisters on the boot lid sorted but they never came out to take a look at it so im kinda worried about them doing the work then charging me for it all as its on its arse ! :quiet:

Shouldnt worry TBH, They will only get funny IMO as an example if you have some 19" rims on and you do a driveshaft in, They will try and argue its your modification that has made it go.

Shouldnt think a few blisters will be a problem as its the way it will have been sprayed at the factory

Just not wanting to pay a no doubt £300+ bill for this dephasor belt !! will just have to see on the 1st....but still its lowered that dosnt have ne thing to do with the engine nor the paint !

I will pay it if they bring it up but id rather not as its still in warrenty and Coilovers have f**k all to do with the engine in the end ! plus its was making the noise before it was lowered just never knew it was serious till i posted and asked

Modification only invallidates warranty on the parts the modification can directly have an effect on

Renault Warranty is a joke IMO, 2 example to back this.......

Took a gearbox to a dealer to be rectified, tried to say wrong oil was used hence failure...mmmm well once I produced invoice they said "Oh OK you have used correct oil we will do it!!"

Car taken for engine noise....
"well yes engine is knocking but we will have to strip it to see if its warranty, 50/50 it is"
FFS cars only done a few thousand miles engine is noisey and you wana cain me for loads of labour!!!
Put another engine in it as it was fooked big time.

So as far as I'm concerned warranty is worth buger all, as most dealers will try to get out of it. In business terms a lot of lost sales.

I know there gonna try get out of doing it under warrenty but ill fight to the death about it ! like the duck said though Coils have got f**k all to do with the dephasor belt and the blistered paint so if they slap me with a bill things will be flying round the show room :rasp:

my exhaust fell off the day after i picked up my car, had to argue for about 20 minz to get it!

my lambda went, wasnt covered because it was exposed to the elements?!?!

engine mounts wernt covered

i would not say anything to them tbh - if its going in to be checked if its covered under warrenty and they claim whatever the fault is, is not covered by there warrenty then they have to ask your permission to carry out the work, cant just do it and hit you with the bill.

Because if the garage you go to says its been modified then you can un-modify it and go elsewhere,just thought there would be a couple of dealers in glagow to help if all else fails

Dosnt matter ne more its up on the rammp getting the dephasor done along with a new timing belt ! didnt say ne thing about it being modifyed so all is grand !! wont be getting it back today though and there unsure about the boot bliters as they have to send pictures to some where *shrugs*

Is the warranty with that garage you took it to ?

Or for a national chain like Evans Halshaw, Arnold Clark etc ?

As any of there Renault dealers may have een able to look at it

As i was going to say you could even have taken it to Aberdeen Renault - Evans Balshaw (its only 45 mins from dundee)

Or Mackie Motors Renault in Brechin, they are the ones that did my cambelt and Aux belt and good hundred quid or so than Renault Aberdeen and there service aint too bad

Parks renault in motherwell wouldnt fix me a engine mount and were reluctant to even check the tyre pressures when i asked then. The girl at the service desk was a right b**ch! All cos it has been lowered.

Dosnt matter ive been told and its the LAW that unless they can prove that the modifications cause the problem in writing the the warrenty work has to go ahead !

they will only have sufficient grounds to prevent a warranty repairs if the mods you have carried out have caused said default.
