Dent In Boot Behind Bumper

  1.6 Ford Focus
Anyone know how I can remove this?

I was shunted from behind by another Clio this morning and just checked the car over properly. The boot now appears to be 1" smaller and I have to slam the boot door quite hard to get it to shut or it just bounces back again.

Im not sure where the dent would be so where should I start looking? Would it just be an easy job with the hammer to knock the dent out?

No.

Next time get insurance details as to cause that amount of damage they must have caused external damage to your car.

Theres no damage other than that, not even a scratch. I was in a rush to get to college so i didnt think at the time, i just saw no visible damage to either car and went on our way.

When u get shunted in the rear, you should always open ur boot and close it again, to check!

Take it to a body repair shop and ask them how much they are going to rape you for.

It might sound harsh, mate, but that is the only thing you can do. "Going at it with a hammer" is even more stupid, than not asking for insurance details of the other party after a bump.

Lesson learned fella.

Lols ah the old clio boot floor. "my bumper looks fine"

Crazy how the clio bumpers show no damage when the boot floor gets it.

Get a batton of wood and a heavy sledge hammer and knock it out as best as you can.

Go to a bodyshop would be the best suggestion. They might do it quickly for free.

I work in a bodyshop and I would do it for free.

Big hammer + block of wood.

pics would help alot to show the extent of the damage . it may be do able by hand but there again it may need surgery

  Better than yours. C*nt.
AFPMSL!

Let that be a lesson, even if you don't think something's broke, take their details as it's impossible if you've no idea who they were...

Lesson learned the hard way, DO NOT leave the scene of any accident no matter how pathetic without details.

Indeed.

Ah, too far for me then.

Will do when I get home.

If it's of any use the car behind hit me at about 15mph.

Forgot to get the pics but I took a look under the carpet. Looks like the plastic trim on where the boot catch is has come forward a bit preventing the boot shutting properly.

Going to remove the rear bumper and the boot trim tomorrow and see the damage.

I have a feeling you're going to find some quite serious damage, although I sincerely hope not. Rippled boot floors can easily write off a car.

You'll not do that again. ALWAYS exchange details even if there appears to be no damage at the time.

Let's hope its not that serious.

Pulling everything out of the boot tomorrow, all the carpet, spare tyre etc and taking a look.

There's a Renault garage nearby so I could take it there and get them to check it out as well.

or take to body shop and get it pulled out with a jig.... depends how bad it is and how you want it to look after the jobs done......

It does look like it needs to be pulled out, the boot is smaller but the damage doesn't seam to be serious as the well for the spare tyre has taken the blow and crumpled.

There is no other damage at all apart from that, I checked the rear wheel arches as well and they are all fine luckily.

Defiantly an insurance write off if I was smart enough to get the details. Still the car seams ok and I am ok so lesson learnt.

personally i would just try and live with that , it isnt really worth repairing tbh

It's depressing knowing its there but that's the plan. I will try and get a quote from a local body shop but to be honest, like you said, its not worth it. I just need to adjust the boot lock catch so that it shuts properly and cut down the carpet so that it actually fits and that's problem fixed...

It's not going to affect the car in any way so onwards with the mods :D Downside is my 182 rear bumper idea has now gone down the drain and the cars value is probably £500 less now.

The guy that hit me would be a lot worse off than me, I can assume that he can't open his bonnet now.
