dephaser tool. durham area.

  Foz turbo S & a 172
evening all.

I'm needing the lend of the tool to fit a new dephaser for my 172 after my mate says it definitely needs one.
The car has done 88k, Ive found doco that proofs that cambelt and tensioners were done at 41k but no mention of the dephaser and now mate is saying theres an engine noise that definitely points at dephaser. I wouldnt know.. Im not tech..

so, Im asking if someone has the required specialised tool that I could loan (with payment of course), in order for him to do the replacement.

thanksinadvance..

Not just that, you need to get the belts all done at the same time as the pulley, so you might as well just take it to someone and have them do it all at once, unless you're pretty skilled with the car the belts are a minge ache to change if you're noob with motors.

But get a ren specialist to do the job will be around £700 for the lot, belts, tensioners, dephaser and waterpump ( might as well do it at that ages or you'll do it all again pretty soon )

Prob not what you want to hear but check around and you'll see this is the std thing to do.

Considering the mileage it's done, 47k since the last belt change, there's no way I'd just change the dephaser. Do the whole lot. Belts and all.

Also the cambelts get changed on age aswel as mileage at 5 years.

So if they were done a few years ago you may aswel get all associated parts replaced at same time then you know they're right for a good while to come.
