No they do have a purpose to create more downforce and air flow.

Canards don't create much downforce at all, look at them, they're tiny! The purpose isn't to create 'better air flow' either. In fact they're meant to create vortices to manage the high and low pressure spots at the side of the car, maintaining downforce.

That is of course presuming the canards are designed for your car and the rest of the kit. If they're not, they're just creating drag.
