Detailing tape

  Mk4 .:R32
Where does everyone get the blue tape, to mask off the rubber and plastic parts on their car for when they detail?

I'd have thought any hardware shop will sell high quality masking tape, get mine from B&Q.

I know, the blue stuff is also available in most hardware shops.

I'm sure there is a specific type of masking tape just for 'detailing' but as long as it had good tackiness and you can remove days later, it really doesn't matter.

B&Q dont stock decent stuff (mine doesnt anyway) and nor does halfrauds, i have got through a ridiculous amount of rubbish tape that does not stick at all.

ebay is the way forwards :)

B&Q sell there own brand blue painters tape round here, is different to the 3m stuff but works fine. Normal white masking tape also does the trick to though.

just out of interest i take it you do bumper care after you have PCd? i know why it didnt stic last time, had a free hour so went round whole car doing all the trim.

Yeah that's what I always use Rich, B&Q's own blue tape, sticks to all painted surfaces fine and removes with no issues either.

No problems with the B&Q stuff sticking, just works out dearer than the 3M hence why I don't normally use it.
