Diagnosis needed please.

Hey merry christmas, can someone please help me diagnose my 182s issue, a few weeks ago i was driving along and slowed to change gear and the car went dead, i thought oh it was nothing but yet it has done it again
and again, it did it yesterday going up a hill, engine off - power sterring off. I flipped a laguna once do to a wierd idling problem where the revs went up and down, long story but i ended up in a hedge! Is it the cold or something else?

Please your thoughts.

It just randomly dies?

Are you always doing the same thing, ie changing gear/accelerating/braking etc etc?

Either in gear say at the lights or just at low speed

So it's when the revs are dropping or when idling at lights etc?

Is the car running 100% otherwise, no hesitation or anything?

You dont see the needle fluctuating, at the lights is a suituation where it has occured, there is no studder like a stall, just turns off.

Could be a TDC sensor then, but to be honest I'm not really sure.

No lights on the dash or anything?

Does the coolant temp gauge go all funny? My 182 did it a few times, weird fault.

^^^ that's air in ya coolant system. Wouldn't cause this though.

If there are no warning lights then I would suggest this is not an ECU initiated intervention. I reckon it must be a loose cable to the coil or a coil breakdown or fuel pump. Do the lights stay on the dash after the engine has i died.

Think it's garage time I'm afraid. Could be a few things, If you know or a mate knows a little, check easy things like plugs, leads the battery look for any loose wires/cables. Might be simple or might be complicated.

I did have a new coil pack a few months ago as my injector was playing up

i think that injector wasnt fixed prperly then, lol that would cause it. a similar post in this section during the week.

Yep, check your injectors.
Although if one was faulty, I doubt that would make it cut out - surely it would just run rough?

i'd check the fuel pump, an the relay. sounds like its not gettin fuel so its stallin

Same thing happened to me and it turned out it was the idle speed control. Took it to Renault and 2 Min's later and £80 lighter it was sorted! They reckoned it happens quite alot and caused by pressing the brake and accelerator both at the same time. There words not mine!! Id say that's your problem.

Well i have flagged up low idling before when it was under warranty, i am not paying for it, saying that though jay bee are wicked

Your best bet would be to get it on the computer and see what comes up. If it is that then play hell with them because you shouldn't have to pay twice! They did tell me that it is more than possible to happen again. Just one of them annoying things i guess

Just something to add, my if i rev the engine when stationary i can here a ticking, so rev and get tick tick tick as the dial goes up, anyone elses do that.

Yeah both my rs's sometimes did that, just make sure the oil is at the correct level.

is the tick tick coming from the passenger footwell? if so its the UCH ticking.

The uch is a good tick, if you notice as soon you put your lights etc on it will tick, its just recieving the orders you have done and gives them to the ecu.

If it ticks madly then theres something wrong, i had it on mine were it just went tick tick tick tick tick it was the wipers coming on automaticly it stopped as soon as i removed the fuse for it. but i need to sort that out myself soon lol

Mine does that too. I got told it was a Hydraulic valve on its way out. A few oil changes later and its gone. keep posted on any diagnosis you get as id be curious as to what your told.

Two words :- throttle body. Not cheap.

Great new throttle control at 400 sheets, and its still doing it again.

It might be your throttle pedal not the body. They dont cost that much from Renault. Was the body gold plated from where you got it from because thats a high price

Great new throttle control at 400 sheets, and its still doing it again.

Dose the light come on in the center of your dash? looks like a hart monitor.

If not it sounds like there might be a loose wire somewhere. Had this problem with a customers car. It came in because it kept cutting out on idle it turned out to be a lose earth.

Lambda sensor could be at fault too but that doesn't normally cause that car to stall.

High chance its not pedal or body then. I would check all sensors if i was you then.

I was suspicious of earth lead!! had similiar symptoms on a phase 1. kept jerking. but the lights would all come on the dash.

Just out of curiosity at your responses at the price, have i been massively ripped off, i did ask if the part could be obtained for a cheaper price. It was 400 including part and labour.
