Is it just the rev counter that doesnt work or all the panel ?

just the rev counter, my bro said something about there needing to be a wire running from the dials to the gearbox in order for it to work? now when i fitted these there was a spare extra wire that plugged into the back of the dials which im guessing would be for the rev counter, so when i had my previous dials on it was just sittin there unplugged, is it a case of finding the other end of the wire and connecting to the gearbox?
any help appreciated cheers

You cant get RPM readings from the gearbox, think about it, its Engine RPM.

The alternator is used to generate the pulse for the rev counter, its then translated in the UCH module.

You will need to pull the dash off to find the wire which should be tucked up on the loom, just not connected.

I've known engine RPM to be measured from the gearbox.....if you think about it, the imput shaft is rotating at Engine RPM.

But otherwise it can be coilpack measured, alternator measured or a flywheel pick up sensor.
