Clio MK2 1.5l Diesel
Hello all,
Don't think my latest Clio could ever be described as sporty, but previous owner has tried, which I think is why she's spent more time in the garage than on the road!
She has her EGR blocked, and friend suggested might find more info on a sport/mod forum if it's the root cause of the problems
I've had her 6 months, previously had a mk2 petrol 1.2 for 5 years and managed a few basic fixes myself but this one is way out of my comfort zone.
Her first problem was a starting problem, which came up as an injector fault, car was returned to seller who fixed something and got car working but fault light reappeared.
Air intake tubing wrapped itself around the radiator fan, replaced that myself
Bubbles in the diesel were fixed with a new fuel pump, more fault lights required a new accelerator pedal, but we got her through her MOT last month
Last week she had new glow plugs as she wasn't starting - they were rusty and not glowing very much. All was well (other than showing a lambda sensor fault which was going to be investigated when mechanic could fit me in) until car cut out on roundabout.
AA man ran diagnostic, found lambda fault, main relay fault and cleared codes, which got her started again. He spotted the engine bay fuses have been messed with (half are missing or wrong according to Haynes) and suggested replacing faulty parts before fiddling with them.
She's currently in the garage (after jump starting) for investigation, and it's coming up with fault codes for injectors and an oxygen sensor the car doesn't have. Am pacing the room waiting to hear if she's fixable
