Different Clios.

Im looking into changing my car to a clio and i was wondering if you guys could help me. I want to know what a dynamique clio is?? Or what the other option of clios were.

well as far as i know u got 3 mks.

mk1 go 1991 - 1998 thats for sure. then u got the 172 an cups respectively.

The dynamique is the newer shape clio. it will most probs have 16v. maybe 1.2 16v.

There are 4 collections Renault do for new style Clios. The Freeway, Elegance, Sport and RenaultSport in which there are various editions of Clio equipt with various things depending on what you want.

The Dynamique comes under the Sport collection and has 4 options. A 1.2 16v, a 1.4 16v and a 1.6 16v plus the diesel 1.5Dci.

There are two "Mk"s.

Mk1 1991-1998 (Ph1 1991-1994, Ph2 1994-1996, Ph3 1996-1998).

Mk2 1998-present (Ph1 1998-2001, Ph2 2001-present - plus a minor facelfit in 2004).

Renault has split its range into budget, sporting, luxury and Renaultsport ranges in recent years. You can get most engines in each of the first three sets of trims, with the Renaultsport range comprising a hot hatch (172 Ph1, 172 Ph2, Cup and 182 in order of birth) and a mega hatch (V6 Ph1 and Ph2).

The "Dynamique" trim has been available since 2001 on Mk2 Ph2 cars. Its the sporting trim.

what were you looking to spend and what could you afford? if you can, get a 172!

if not dynamiques are nice cars with a lot of extras on.

dont get an authentique as they dont have any options as standard

Well i test drove a Dynamique 16V 1.2 and really liked it. My budget is around £5000. lol. Im 19 years old 20 this year so insurance would be a bit troublesome i think if i was looking at 172s. dont you think??

Is the spec near enough the same between a Dynamique and a 172??

The Dynamique is a lot closer to the 172 in terms of looks and spec than the older Mk1 Clios were to the Renaultsport 16V and Williams, but there are still quite a lot of differences, especially under the skin!

Thanks. I think what im going to do is keep looking. See what comes up. There were a couple off clios today i saw at garages etc but they were sold!!! Usually the way if you like soemthing heh. you cant have it!!!!

Dailyd you drive a dynamique yes, what do you think off it?? Have you got any pictures off it??

yea its totally standard apart from the philips bulbs

Its even worse now cos I have got the steel wheel on (some cant put 2 screws an a nail in my alloy )

My plan would be to lower it, colour code an some CUP alloys but that will have to wait. I really like it, its got stuff like automatic wipers, automatic headlights, RAID (Renault anti intruder device) (locks doors when speed goes over 5MPH) 4 air bags, Its not got much power, nowhere near as much as say a 172 (1.2 dynamique has about 73 I think where as 172 has 172 or about that) I had it for over a year now, after I get a few years NCB I will get another Clio, say a 172/182 but my Dynamique will do fine for now, I think its a great forst car, im starting to see loads used by driving tutors around here. here is some pics, kinda old will get some new ones now the nice weather is back.

Black is nice as it fits the bumper and rubbing strip colour.
