Dirty Lights? Weird Problem!

W

Willy

Hiya.

My headlights have some sort of muck on them, which wont budge! Ive tried various products, and everything I can find in my garage with no luck. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid? This has been happening over a period of about 8 months. Ta

Thanks :)

Yeah it seems to be a standard problem, unsure what it is or why it builds up.

Correction wise, its best to use a machine polisher with some good cutting compound like Menzerna IP.

you had anything sprayed recently as it could be over spray, if so just take it back to the garage n tell them that theres overspray n can they get it off, they will use a polish type product

Ah ha. Anything else I should try before paying for someone to sort it? :)

Nothing sprayed. Theyve just been getting worse overtime.

Yeah you could hand polish them, but I don't think you will get the necessary pressure/polishing to remove it sadly, tis only a couple of quid to get it sorted :)

That's the plastic suffering from UV exposure...just do what they are telling you, polish the headlights, please protect the bonnet and wing while doing so...and then, after the polishing is done apply 4 or 5 coats of good wax. I think P21S protects against UV rays. With the polishing be safe and go slow, it is better to use fine grit sandpaper or fine polish than use a too agrresive compund and damage the surface.

You shouldn't really wax lights should you? I was told be a fairly reliable source that the waxes would react to the light/temps . . . ? Could be wrong!

Detailers have been applying sealant and waxes to headlights for years, I do that to my Clio and it looks good...and bugs do not stick so much :approve:

i noticed the same on mums clio hers seem abit green as well couldnt understand why may have a go with a machine
