Disconecting Ph1 Battery?

  1.6 Ford Focus
I just had a look at this and not entirely show how the clamps come off of the battery? It looks like there's some kind of twist thing on top of the battery terminal connector.

Does this just twist and pull off?

Heres mine... Like I said it looks like the positive is a twist kind of thing.

Yep, most likely just untwist the positive an and probably an 8mm socket/spanner needed for the negative..

Just one last thing, probably my dad trying to convince me not to touch anything on my car again as per usual. If I disconnect the battery, will this reset the engine management? My dad has a Cmax and on his, you need to run the engine for 15 mins after reconnecting the battery so that it resets all the sensors.

Right had some time at lunch today, the negative is easy to remove but the positive has baffled me... I tried twisting it and pulling it and no luck, in fact twisting was totally impossible.

Twist it.

It's a hand screw.

1000000000000000000000% sure.

(mine did snap a bit over time, but it's french plastic, so meh.

Yeah that's what I thought but it wasn't moving at all. I will have to give it a go tomorrow now... who's smart idea was it to work 5 days a week haha.

Even the negative was stuck to the terminal, the sparks from it actually helped to remove it.

definatly twists off might just be clogged up a bit if its not been taken off for ages.
a) make sure your twisting it the right way
and
b) man up lol

Get something heavy and solid (I use a screw driver handle) and gently tap it round from one side.

They are s**t and get stuck on all the time.

Twist off matey, did it only last week to get the battery from my other PH1. Can be kinda hard to pull off and I gave in myself and just smashed it to bits with a hammer as it didn't matter to me. Im sure some pliers around it would pull it though, WD40 over it slightly too maybe? But not sure if it will do anything if it touches the battery terminals so don't take my word for it :rasp:
