disjointed feel



Sorry for all the newbie questions but as mentioned before im looking for a 172 cup and needing a bit of help

Went to go see one yesterday, mechanically sound which is good (others have been dogs) but it has been lowered on Apex springs (with OEM dampers) which im not a massive fan of but it did not put me off. On the test drive it rode completely rock solid which i slightly expected but its felt very numb and disjointed at the rear end, it even hopped over a cats eye at 30mph.

Personally i think theres more to blame then the springs, are bushes likely to have caused the unpleasant road holding or? I dont know what weak points are on this car thats all.

The coils at the rear were all sat on top of each, no give what so ever (completely unladen) so they aren't helping matters but is there something else i should be looking at closer?

Apex springs are horrendous they give a very poor cashy ride. It also sounds like rear shocks are done with as it shouldn't be bouncing about. Either barter for the price to be lowered to allow for new springs and shocks or walk away imo, plenty of good cups about.

Just trying to price it into the overall price of the car, ive offered him what i think its worth but apparently thats less then what he paid..not my fault you got ripped off!
 
Tyre's where in good condition but my guess is that its been stupidly low before as there are scuff marks inside the front archs.

Must agree there isnt many tidy cups out there, there are good ones obviously but there at a premium. As soon as i see a back box or lowered i normally stop looking at the advert but this one was close so worth a shot.
I just want a standard cup with no silly bolt on bits thats been looked after..not much to ask!:dapprove:

Don't let a aftermarket exhaust put you off mate, the originals fall to bits about 50k and new ones are silly money so most people go aftermarket.
