Dissapointment

  Yozza'd Titanium 182
With the idea of a replica in mind, having collected all my parts, bumpers sides skirts etc etc....

i took my bumpstrips to a proffesional sprayer who sprayed them gris boreal with the same paintcode as mine.

I thought best to just get a little part sprayed to see if it was a good match.

And it wasnt, i was really dissapointed and now have almost lost the drive to finish what i started.

So what do i do?
If you were me what would you do?

No childish comments please
James

ive just had a wing done and part of th edoor done on a 52 plate cup for £220. as a car dealer ive a great eye for spotting things and they have done a brilliant job. its impossible to tell its been painted unless your an expert. it was done by clive bodyshop in winsford.

tell them lee the fireman from holmes chapel gave you their details

Thing is gaz got his done at the same place and his are fine wich is a similar colour to foxys it must just be harder with silver, white etc

ive only ever used the one at speedkarting once, for my very first 172 bumper, in may 07, was a crap job he didnt even bother repairing the scratches on it, just painted over them........i would have never recommended them to anyone.

i since had anything i needed spraying done elsewhere

Guy who colour coded my car matched my silver up perfectly, he even impressed himself! Dont give up, i have had a couple of bad jobs before! Just keep on going at it!

Just get them to spray it again so it is the right colour...
+1

If i'd have gone somewhere & they sprayed them the wrong colour i'd ont pay them either.

James, what you have to remember is that although you car is gris boreal there will be slightly different shades of it (there always are with cars, not just that colour) Sounds to me like the dude did a crap match. Also (as said) silver is hard to match in general anyway.

Either get the spray dude to do them again, or go elsewhere.

try the one down the courseway they will do a good job i recon but will charge more, qouted me 1k to do my parts

lol, don't start that again dude, it already took him a while to find out what the colour was & he said it was gris boreal.

well thats what i was told on here, i just dont know what to do!, ive been quoted 1k for a full respray of the whole car and parts.... was considering racing blue colour.

thing is when you open the door boot and bonnet it would look crap!
also ud have to tell dvla n insurance

James, what are you doing ?:S Just ask the dude to match them up to your car, it's not hard for them to do (assuming the dudes not a wally & can paint etc) Or if you don't trust the painter speak to foxy etc about where he went & go there.

You asked for your paint code & then folk told you where to find it & what the colour was, sounds to me like the painter got the shade of it wrong.

I would never have a full respray from their even if they get the match right like they did with gazes they aint good enough to doa full respray + who does full resprays that cheap.

Go back with someone hard like me and get him to do them properly if he stil wont say yourl pay £30 for the paint

dont give up mate, i too i am building a replica (gris boreal too) and today i got round to fitting the sports front bumper which i customised to fit the standard arches and painted myself. i have had doubts at points throughout the project but i am so glad i stuck with it after seeing the results today. i just have to fit and paint the sideskirts, paint the 182 rear bumper and finish the custom 182 style exhaust

ps door handles are not painted just primered and i have different alloys going on it when its done. the car also needs fully detailing as its filthy

hope you get it sorted mate

Put the car in with the parts so they can match it properly. If you expected an exact match by handing over a part and a paintcode then your ignorance regarding painting is pretty obvious. Silver is a b*tch to march anyway. And just because its named 'xyz silver' by Renault, it could be called something completely different from the paint source, so forget that.

the bumper looks a good fit to the standard wings :)

thanks buddy i had to customise the bumper brackets and fibreglass the top of it to get a decent fit. i also smoothed out the headlight washer jet holes

That looks mint Jim,

But does the bumper have the reflection that the bonnet etc has?

Do i spot my primered door handles on ur car? lol

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
it is shiney but once i have finished the rest of the car i will portacable the whole car and that will make it shine better as at the moment is hasnt had any polish on it

Looks awesome mate!

R u goign to sort out ur bonnet btw?.. u got the same problem as i have on mine, the dent :(

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
yeah the car came with the dent when i bought it, i will get it knocked out a some point. obviously due to the previous owner just leaning on it to try and shut it but instead just pressing in the bonnet

As much as it is nearly impossible to match gris boreal, i have to say i love the color. It turns different colors in different lighting!

When it was snowing, it looked gunmetal, and in the sun its light blue! Bit of a flip paint effect, but a lot subtler!
