DIY Colour coding

  Black PH2 172 FF
Just finished colour coding my bump strips. Thought I'd have a go at doing it myself, and I think they came out OK. Done it all for about £22!

First stage:

Then primer / paint / lacquer:

Then put back on car, and admire LOL:

Might have a bash at the handles next! :approve:

Looking good (bar the lexus lights :clown: ) Looks like you've done a good job on the spraying. Should do the handles and wing mirrors next and it will look well smart.

Thanks for the great comments guys! :D

I took off the Lexus, and put the standards back, but it just didn't look right.....

Gonna stick with these for now (I know 99% don't like them :rasp: )

Looking good mate, I'm gonna be having a go at my own soon. Any tips?

Just don't rush it, leave plenty of time in between coats etc...

You'll have to drive round without them on for a couple of days, which looks weird, but it's worth it in the end! :approve:

Looks like a really nice job you've done there! What's the finish like?

Do you need any special equipment to do this or can you buy the paint in some sort of spray can? Where did you get yours from?

I have a black valver and i'd like to spray the handles, mirror surrounds, and the standard spoiler, what will i need to do it?

Also, how do you get the door handles off??

lots of sandpaper (ideally an electric one to get the bumps off the plastic bits), primer, black, and laquer (spray cans are fine). I also use leveller ontop of the laquer to get rid of some of the bumps. U need to do it ideally in a heated garage, if not use a hairdryer to heat the paint as it goes on (not necessary for the primer). If its flat black, laquer may not be required best checking the tin.

can i ask where you got the paint from?? because im struggling 2 find naples... as im going 2 do the same :) very good job by the way!

Got the paint from Halfords mate.

Go to their paint section, they have a flipchart there, where you can look up your car. They didn't have Naples on the shelf, but they mix it up for you while you wait!

I believe the Halfords paint code for Naples red was 783.

Hope you get it OK mate.... :D
