DIY doorcards Handle?

I'm making some doorcards this weekend is it possible to use the existing door handles or are some from a different car better?

Ive seen the cup racer handles that MAD MAX sells he's away for the next 2 week though if I have to wait for them then I will do just wondering if there's any other options
