DIY guide needed for 172 brake pads

  320d M Sport

Well, its been ages since i last did this (on me saxo) so want to make sure i do it right! What tool etc will i be needing to swap my front pads then?

Cheers, no doubt Ben will sort me out ;)

I would recommend a wheel brace, some spanners and two whole unwrapped blocks of lard.

But I dont know much about mechanics....

cant remember the socket sizes, but youll need a jack, 1/2" socket set, and a plumbing plier to push the piston back in the cylinder.

just take off the pad carrier, put new ones in push back the piston and your done.

you could do it with your eyes closed and arms tied behid your legs with a knife dnagling from a burning thread over your head and a bad case of the squits.

i think.....lol

ok, Ben just to let you know I plan on suing if i cant do it in the above named fashion ie:

with your eyes closed and arms tied behid your legs with a knife dnagling from a burning thread over your head and a bad case of the squits.

Paddy mate do you read Frog?

If yes Ive got a fantastic link to a site thatll show you how to change your pads with copious piccies etc etc., inc key sizes - the lot.

Just had a look at the piccys and the technology hasnt changed one bit. My L reg valver has exactly the same breaks but obviously bigger on the 172. It took me and Night.Icon 4 hours to change discs, Pads and rear wheel bearings all round.

RT_ED you will see a couple of DIY guides I have done for the site on the main site board.

The lowering guide and the oil change for a 172 as well.

I will be producing a load of stuff for the valver as this is my next project car.

said aprt may attempt to try method underlined by BenR but under no circumstances can BenR be held liable due to undertakers incompetance.

;)

Paddy will you post after attempting ze-frog-plaquette-procedure, im curious to know the end result. I fancy fitting pagids or ferodos ds2500 in the not too distant future.

Cheers, P
